Your complete guide to staying cool, looking amazing, and loving your photos.

July in Florida is beautiful—lush greenery, golden sunsets, dreamy backdrops—but let’s be real… it’s also hot, humid, and full of surprises (hello afternoon storms!). If you're scheduled for an outdoor session this month, I’ve put together a quick prep guide to help you get the most out of our time together and enjoy the experience from start to finish.

1. Hydration is Everything

Drink plenty of water the day before and the morning of your session. Florida heat can sneak up on you—especially when you're dressed up. Bonus tip: bring a cold water bottle (or even an insulated tumbler with ice) to sip on between shots.

2. Dress Smart for the Weather

Choose breathable, lightweight fabrics like cotton, linen, or flowy blends. Neutrals and soft tones photograph beautifully and help minimize the appearance of sweat. Avoid heavy layers or anything too tight—comfort translates to confidence!

Pro Tip: Ladies, flowy dresses look amazing in Florida breezes. Gents, go for light button-ups or rolled sleeves for a relaxed, polished vibe.

3. Hair & Makeup Tips

Humidity is real, so plan accordingly!

  • Use anti-frizz products or consider an updo to keep your hair photo-ready.

  • Blotting sheets or a small powder compact can help manage shine.

  • Setting spray is your best friend—especially for makeup in the summer heat.

Want to really feel pampered? Ask me for local hair & makeup artist recs that know how to work with Florida weather!

4. Timing is Key

We’ll aim for golden hour—just after sunrise or just before sunset—for that dreamy, glowy light. Not only is it flattering, but it’s also the coolest time of day (literally and aesthetically).

5. Bring the Essentials

Tote bag must-haves:

  • Water bottle

  • Touch-up makeup or face wipes

  • Bug spray (Florida mosquitos love summer!)

  • Towel or napkins for blotting if needed

  • Comfy shoes for walking to locations (you can switch to photo shoes once we get there)

6. Expect the Unexpected

Florida is famous for quick summer showers, especially in the afternoons. I always build in flexibility for weather changes and will keep you updated on the forecast. Sometimes we wait it out, sometimes we reschedule—and sometimes, we get magic in the rain!

7. Trust the Process

The most important thing is to have fun and be present. I’ll guide you through poses and prompts, help you feel natural, and make sure you look your best—even if it’s a little warm outside.

Ready for your summer session?I promise, the beauty we’ll capture is worth every drop of Florida sunshine. Your story, in natural light, surrounded by nature—it’s going to be stunning.

If you have any questions leading up to your session, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here for you every step of the way. 💛

With love & light,

Cassie Your favorite photographer
